Summary:

The speaker of the "Maktab i3lami" wing, Muhammad Ghazi (a nom-de-guerre) asserts that such a phenomenon has been observed by the education department of the Jamaa, but that iit is limited to a small number of persons who suffered a psychological shock (sadma nafsiyya), mainly because of witnessing one of the "massacres". He claims that the tarbiya department is trying to help these people, regardless of the readiness or intention to return to "organizational discipline" (iltizam tanzimi). He futher states that laying all the blame for the catastrophy the persecution suffered by the Ikhwan on the old leadership is something that contradicts Ikhwani education, which stresses that you always have to have a dalil if you criticise someone. The new leadership is confident that it can revitalize the organization and bring people back from temporary passivity after the military coup.

Ahmad al-Bayli, who was the supervisor of Ikhwani Azhar students until the organizational crisis of 2014 - he refuses to identify with either wing - states: there is a condition of severe depression and organizational and moral "ridda" after the "nubu'a" that the young people believed in failed. The leadership is currently very weak, because many people were arrested. The solution is a renewed focus on preaching and education within society, in separation from government and politics.

Amr Izzat states that the organizational crisis might be major cause for the phenomenon: (1) the Muslim Brotherhood, its political and educational activities, used to dominate their life and keep them occupied; now the general level of activity is much lower, people have the time to try other things; (2) the loss of confidence in the leadership deepens their doubts about the Ikhwani project and lifestyle:

He adds that young people oriented towards political activism, media and the arts might no longer find the Ikhwan attractive, becaue the educational activities do not give them enough stimulous and they regard them as stale and boring.
He wonders whether this phenomenon is really damaging for the Ikhwan, as long as the people do not question the Islamist ideology. Young people who were socialized in the revolutionary period might have this penchant towards politics and action. People who focus so much on the political project that they attribute no importance to the ethics of their personal life could as well turn to the more violent fringes of the Ihkwan or directly to Jihadism.
